Qualification: D.Th. or Ph. D. (OT) for Asst. Professor; or M.Th. (OT) for Lecturer

Scale of Pay:
Candidates with D.Th./Ph.D. (Asst. Professor) Rs. 12000 – 350 – 15500 – 450 – 23000
Candidates with M.Th. (Lecturer) Rs. 10000 – 300 – 13000 – 400 – 17000

The Passing of Dr K Rajaratnam, Mater of Serampore College.

Dr Kunchala Rajaratnam, Former Master of Serampore College, passed away on Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at 14.00. Dr Rajaratnam died in his home after a brief illness. In January this year, he had a set back and was given a pacemaker. He was 89.

His mortal remains were interned at CReNIEO, an institute he established, on Saturday, April 10, 2010, after a service of celebration of his life and witness at Gurukul Lutheran Theological College and Research Institute which he re-founded in 1985.

Dr Rajaratnam was the former Director of Gurukul, and relinquished his position as the Master of Serampore College on the 26th of March 2010. He was the Executive Secretary of UELCIfor number of years and President of NCCI. He also served in LWFin various capacities, and as an Economist, he was the founder Director of CReNIEO and also founder of many NGOs. He has been also Chairman of the Orissa Development Action Forum, a conglomeration of 12 NGOs in Orissa. Through the National Council of Churches in India, he initiated a new national programme for the Dalit Liberation.

His association with Madras University is unique. He was member of the University Syndicate, nominated to the membership by the Governor of Tamil Nadu late Dr M Channa Reddy. In the absence of the Vice-Chancellor for sometime, he was appointed Convenor of the Syndicate Committee, in charge of the University administration.

He survived by one son Dr Shyam Prasad and three daughters, Ms Premanjali Rao, Ms Ramola Zachariah and Dr Rani Rajaratnam.

We thank God for the life and witness of Dr Rajaratnam and his contributions to the church and society.
