It revolves around eleven branches of studies: Old Testament, New Testament, Christian Theology, Christian Ethics, History of Christianity, Religions, Christian Ministry, Communication, Women’s Studies, Social Analysis and Missiology. Core subjects and courses are devised from these branches and syllabuses are prepared accordingly. Master of Theology and doctoral degree programmes are also offered in these branches of studies. Apart from this, Serampore requires studies in languages, such as Sanskrit, Pali, Prakrit, Gurumukhi, Arabic, Syriac, Hebrew, Greek, Latin and other classical languages mandatory for higher and specialized studies at graduate, post-graduate and doctoral levels. Its curricula, at different levels, emphasize study and research in areas such as religions, inter-religious dialogue, renascent movements in India, sociology, Philosophy, Psychology, Cultural studies, poverty and developmental issues, social ethics etc. In-depth studies of Indian religions, Indian traditions and philosophy and modern movements are also undertaken. All studies, including Christian theology are undertaken in contextual relevance.
